Currently, there are approximately 1,600 enrolled students. OVHS is in the International Baccalaureate or IB program. An IB program consists of three main programs: the IB Primary Years Program (PYP), which is for students ages 3 to 12, the IB Middle Years Program (MYP), ages 11 to 16, and the IB Diploma Program (DP), ages 16 to 19. The International Baccalaureate program begins in the eleventh grade and ends with graduation from OVHS. The program provides an intellectually rigorous and academically demanding curriculum for students in schools around the world. IB emphasizes critical thinking and research skills as part of the learning process. Students take classes in English, science, mathematics, social studies, and foreign language. In addition, a 4,000 word extended essay, a Theory of Knowledge class, and 150 hours of community service are required for the full diploma which is awarded from the IB office in Geneva, Switzerland.
