Office Environment and Effectiveness of Secretaries

This study The impact of the nature of an office to the effectiveness of secretaries: A case study of Kyambogo University was done to; find out whether the nature of an office affects the effectiveness of secretaries, find out various forms of nature offices used by Kyambogo University, find out the challenges involved in operating in these different office layouts. The study revealed that the nature of an office affects the effectiveness of secretaries and that Kyambogo University mainly uses individual layout nature of offices which have a number of challenges like limited inter-communication inadequate ventilation and aeration and limits flow of work. This research report was compiled basing on the findings of a field study carried out.The researcher concluded that nature of an office greatly impacts the effectiveness of the Secretaries either positively and negatively and that office occupants were not consulted in the designing of their offices. He recommended that office occupants should be consulted when designing offices and that designing should be done by specialists while already existing offices should be modified to meet office requirements.
