Oleander

Oleander is a member belonging to Apocynaceae family. It is a herb with different colored flowers and is suited for dry locality.This plant is cultivated as an ornamental plant in tropical and subtropical parts of the world. A wide spectrum of biological activities has been reported with various constituents isolated from different parts of the plant. Oleander has been reported in ancient texts and folklore for many years and most of its parts and plant products such as flowers, leaves, leaf juice, latex, bark and roots are used for the treatment of many diseases. Used traditionally by herbalists as a folk remedy for a wide variety of conditions, including dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, sores, warts, corns, ringworm, scabies, herpes, skin cancer, asthma, dysmenorrheal, epilepsy, malaria, abortifacients, heart tonics, leprosy and tumors.
