On the Foundation of the Rule of Law

This book succinctly outlines the foundations on which a modern state that wants to be democratic must rest. It is not enough to tell the media that such and such a state is democratic without any social consequences. John Rawls and J. Habermas have successively devoted themselves to reflecting on the conditions of possibility of a democratic state. Both of them, despite some methodological differences, insist on the respect of the fundamental rights of each citizen. They therefore propose an antidote to the modern dictatorship that obscures the freedom of citizens and restricts public space.
