Open Source Software for Libraries

Free and open source development models have made tremendous contributions to computing, research, commercial projects etc. and making it easier for large groups of people, who may not even be acquainted. While this growing activity has a promising future, there is a need of specialized knowledge to install or handle Open Source Software (OSS) in any type of library environment. Once you have decided to migrate to OSS you will need to do some basic installing. The present book Open Source Software for Libraries: A hands-on tool is an attempt to explain how to install various OSS easily and why the success of Open Source Software is broadly significance. We aren't trying to explain every open-source for every activity of libraries, instead we want to explain best, most important, and easiest to use OSS. We believe, this book can be used as a supplementary tool for handling OSS like Fedora, Ubantu, Mozila, Google Chrome, NewGenLib, Koha, Evergreen, Open Journal System, Diva, Joomla!, Drupal, Wordpress and Apache HTTP Server.
