Organisational responsibility in water resource management

Given the vital importance of water as an indispensable resource for the survival of the human species and the survival of cultures and organisations, it is necessary to verify the reasonableness of its use and management. As a productive input, it is up to the organisation that uses it massively to raise the vision of environmental responsibility and sustainable development, duly adapted to the reality in which it operates. This environmentally responsible use will determine not only the financial health of the organisation, but also the maintenance of an ecologically sustainable environment in the surrounding community. It is therefore necessary to work with managers to analyse the adequacy of their policies and structure, how they comply with current environmental legislation, and the role of government agencies in monitoring this use, in addition to monitoring compliance with internal organisational regulations. Water management is not a new concept, nor does it stem from a current need, but it has evolved historically to a management approach that is now associated with a paradigm shift in environmental control, which should be linked to the growth and evolution of societies and organisations.
