It is a book about the history of mathematics in Brazil, which addresses the origin, the initial phase, and the following phases, as well as the development and solidification of teaching and research in mathematics with the consequent formation of the mathematical community in Brazil, a community that The year 2014 features a recipient of the prestigious international Fields Medal award.The author also shows that, based on the pioneering initiatives, the noble areas of Mathematics have been the subject of contributions with international repercussions, coming from professionals from many regions of the country.
