Osmoy is a commune in the Cher department in the Centre region of France. A farming area comprising a small village and a few hamlets situated by the banks of the river Yèvre, some 5 miles (8.0 km) east of Bourges, at the junction of the D46 with the D179 and the D976 roads. It is home to the national police orphanage. Cher (Berrichon: Char) is an administrative department located in the centre of France. It is named after the Cher River. Cher is one of the original 83 departments created during the French Revolution on 4 March 1790. Most of it was created, along with the adjacent department of Indre from the former province of Berry. The south-eastern corner of the department was part of the Duchy of Bourbon, however.
