Outlook on Infrastructure Development in Emerging Economies

Many emerging markets, low-income countries require a major step increase in infrastructure investments to alleviate growth constrains, respond to urbanization pressures,and meet their crucial goals for investment growth,development and sustainability. Growth prospects as seen from documented research, is greatly hampered by the absence of infrastructure not only in developing countries,but also in some developed countries. Strategic infrastructure like roads, energy and ports needs to be in huge existence to drive growth. An estimated 1.4 billion people have no access to electricity,0.9 billion have no access to portable drinking water and 2.6 billion without access to sanitation. The experience of developed countries highlights how a temporal boost in construction projects can more than triple the rate of growth with a high net social value.The role of infrastructure finance cannot be over emphasized in times when the aspirations of most African countries is to attain full growth potential.
