Ouvrage Bersillies was a petit ouvrage of the Maginot Line, built as part of the "New Frontiers" program to address shortcomings in the Line's coverage of the border with Belgium. Like the other three ouvrages near Maubeuge, it was built on an old Séré des Rivères fortification. Bersillies comprised two combat blocks, with a new combination 25mm gun/50mm mortar turret. Here is the list of all ouvrages of the Maginot Line, organized by sector and type of fortification. Ouvrage translates as "works" in English: published documents in both English and French refer to these fortifications in this manner, rather than as "forts". An ouvrage typically consists of a series of concrete-encased strongpoints, linked by underground tunnels.
