Most Pa Then live in the Hà Giang and Tuyên Quang provinces in the northern part of Vietnam's northeastern region. They speak a language in the Hmong-Mien language family, which is also called the Pa-Hng language. As of 1999, the group's population was approximately 5,500. The Pa Then celebrate a Fire Jumping festival. Hà Giang is a province of northeastern Vietnam. It is located in the far north of the country, and contains Vietnam?s northernmost point. It shares a border with China.
