Painting as an Interdisciplinary Form

This key text is an in-depth analysis of contemporaryinterdisciplinary painting. It derives from an investigation intothe philosophy of Gilles Deleuze and issues a challenge to themedium-specific limitations of previous formalisms. The ideascontained within re-negotiate the theorisation and realisation ofpainting by proposing a commonality with Bergsonian and Deleuzianmotifs of the virtual. In particular, this challenging work putsforward ideas of change and the new in relation to Deleuzianbecomings, presenting new methods for contemporary painting. Byincorporating current architectural theories in relation toconcepts of spatiality and duration, it constitutes thereterritorialisation of both painting and thinking as practices andwill be of benefit to practitioners and theoreticians engaged withthe visual arts.
