PAPR Reduction Techniques in MIMO OFDM Systems

In spite of many advantages, the major drawback associated with MIMO OFDM is high Peak-to Average power ratio (PAPR) and Timing offset. The first issue is high PAPR. High PAPR degrades the efficiency of analog parts of the system (e.g digital-to-analog converter, high power amplifier). There fore,PAPR reduction techniques are required.Second problem is to find exact timing of OFDM symbol at the receiver. This is called timing offset estimation. If one FFT window takes samples from two different OFDM symbol, it will generate ICI and ISI at the output. Therefore, suitable methods are required to mitigate ICI at the receiver, by improving these aspects of OFDM. In this Book, an effort has been made to increase the overall performance of MIMO with OFDM system by combating the above mentioned problems of MIMO OFDM.
