Parental perception of oral health
Details
Early childhood caries (ECC) is the most common chronic disease worldwide. It is defined as caries that starts on the primary tooth within the first three years of life. ECC has a significant psychological and social impact on individuals, families and societies. Families are considered to play a key role in the oral health of their children. Parents help to establish oral health habits early in their child's life and also determine when regular dental care is introduced. The aim of this research was to investigate how parents perceive their children's oral health and which factors, such as health literacy, play a role in influencing parents' perceptions and oral health. The results show that parents play a key role in their children's oral health and that phenomena such as experienced stress have a significant influence on this.
