Pathfinder Autonomous Robot Localization

Over the past three decades, research on autonomous robot localization has led to the driver-less cars. Self-driving cars such as google car are an outcome of research in this field. The autonomous robot localization has begun the successful transition from academia to the real world. This book presents an autonomous mobile robot built based on an embedded Linux platform. It utilizes Monte Carlo localization also known as particle filter localization. It is an algorithm for robots to localize using a given map of an environment.

Leo Rajapakse, TOGAF Certified Enterprise Architect, Certified Scrum Master, obtained BSc (Hons) First Class in Information Systems from the Manchester Metropolitan University, UK in 2001 and studied MEng in Information Technology at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Australia in 2005.
