The mainsprings of visual perception and narratives of the living world form the underpinnings of Swiss-based French artist and film maker Pauline Juliers films, objects, inatsllations, and performances. From volcanology to astrophysics, drawing on oral history and scientific exploration, she probes the balance of our ecosystems. In conversation with Federica Martini, Julier reaffirms the agency of the image in response to climate and geographical emergency.

Sarah Burkhalter is an art historian and head of the Antenne romande of the Swiss Institute for Art Research (SIK-ISEA) in Lausanne and a member of SIK-ISEA's board.
