Peace education for conflict prevention in Africa

The author of this work questions Africa and challenges Africans using the pretext of the crisis in Casamance, a southern region of Senegal plagued by one of the oldest conflicts on the black continent. A dynamic, discreet but no less effective actor in the process of restoring peace in this region, Abdou Sarr sets his sights on adolescents. Peace education in schools is a very timely entry point for the present and especially for the future. It must be built for and with today's youth. The capitalization of the experience of the Peace Education project initiated in the colleges of Casamance, encourages modeling for a culture of peace within the communities. A small conflict can generate a large conflict or fuel it. Teaching teenagers to prevent or resolve them peacefully saves them from devastating impulses. World Education, a leading non-governmental organization in Casamance, under the leadership of Abdou Sarr, advocates this strategy to build a culture of peace that will save Africa and the world.

Abdou Sarr ist einer der Wegbereiter des Gemeinschaftsradios im Senegal. Er gründete Penc mi FM, das erste Gemeinschaftsradio im Senegal, 1996 in Fissel Mbadane und später ein zweites Radio Gaynako FM in Namarel. Im Jahr 2001 wurde er Direktor von World Education, was ihm ermöglichte, nacheinander zwanzig weitere Gemeinschaftsradios im Senegal zu gründen.
