Peacekeeping in Africa
Details
This book is done with the purposes of investigating the roles played and the challenges faced by Ethiopian peacekeeping missions since 1994. In 1994, after 30 years of silence, the Ethiopian government participated, mainly, in four countries. These are Rwanda, Burundi, Liberia and at present day, the country sent peacekeepers to Darfur with the collaboration of the UN and AU. More importantly, the book deals with the roles played by the Ethiopian peacekeepers, such as bringing peace, stability and helping post conflict reconstruction and challenges such as lack of adequate study about the host countries or areas, communication gaps/language problems, lack of sufficient skilled manpower, infrastructure and logistics problems. Ethiopia has played great roles in solving societal problems and protecting civilians and their resource from any abuse.
