PERCEIVED NEED FOR DEMOCRATIC VALUES AMONG SOCIAL SCIENCE TEACHER.

Our research work titled 'Perceived Need for Democratic Values among Social Science Teacher Trainees in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu State, Nigeria' was aimed at investigating the level of Democratic Values possessed by the student teachers, with special reference to what obtains in the political landscape of the Nigerian state. The work deployed questionnaire as an instrument for data collection. The total population consisted of all the six hundred (600) teacher trainees in the department of Social Science Education in UNN. It made use of descriptive survey design. SPSS was used for data analysis, using mean, standard deviation, percentages to determine the final results. The study found out,amongst others, that the perceived Democratic Values of Social Science trainees include; one man one vote, right to vote and be voted for, freedom of expression, Understanding the need to standout when majority's opinion is not legitimate, decency in dressing.
