Perception Of Motherhood

Motherhood is one of the foci of feminist studies, with its incontestable role in society. Motherhood is a socio-cultural construct and thus defined according to the specific characteristics of each society. These definitions that differ based on the cultural background of societies also include the ideal and non-ideal expectations of motherhood and provide a roadmap for the accomplishments of the motherhood role. The concept of motherhood, along with its various cultural expressions and the unsolved problems this has presented, has become a major topic of interest for the field of social sciences. Although there are a number of different theories focused on the hows and whats of motherhood, these theories all share in common the importance attributed to women's maternal tendencies in the social construction of motherhood.

Fatma Zehra Fidan was born,and completed her primary and secondary education,in Anamur before graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from University of the Ege. She completed her master's degree at Müla University and was awarded a PhD by Dokuz Eylül University, which was completed in the University's Department of Sociology of Religion.
