This report is a study that has been conducted in Manenberg, a low-income suburb situated on the Cape Flats near Cape Town .The researcher interviewed five primary school educators at a primary school in order to establish what their understanding of the learners' problems was. Also established were the contributing factors to these problems their consequences, and, finally, the educators' comprehension of policies and legislation dealing with such problems in the school environment and at local, provincial and national levels

Nyarai, was born in Zimbabwe and studied Social work specialising in Social Development and Social Development at the University of Cape Town.She is currently completing her Masters in Social Development.Her current Masters research focuses on the motivation and opportunity seeking behaviours of social entrepreneurs in Cape Town.
