Performance of Academic Staff

The study investigated the effect of staffing policy on performance of academic staff of Somaliland Government Universit. Universities have become an important part of educational sector and increased around the world. In all universities including the Somaliland Government Universities, the issue of staffing policy has remained an important aspect and any educational higher institution should come up a proper procedure for staffingd. However, over the years, the performance of academic staff of Somaliland Government Universities has been below expectations in terms of research, publication and community service. This study specifically investigated the effect of recruitment, effect of selection and effect of staff development on performance of academic staff of Somaliland Government Universities. The study recommends that the Ministry of Education and Higher Studies, Somaliland Government Universities and other Universities in Somaliland formulate and implement proper staffing policies to guide recruitment, selection and staff development procedures that could alter the performance of academic staff in terms of research, publication and community service.
