Peri-urban agriculture in Greater Constantine

In this book, we focus on the Greater Constantine area, which represents a regional, even national, attraction, a trigger for Constantine's development in the years to come, through diversified peri-urban agriculture with multiple functions. The results of the study carried out show that, despite the advance of urbanization, the Constantine Urban Group accounted for 34.9% of the wilaya's total production in 2017, with cereal growing, market gardening and arboriculture being the mainstays of agriculture in Constantine, Beyond its primary vocation, agriculture contributes to the attractiveness of the region and the landscapes that reflect the city's image, to the management and protection of natural resources, and to the shaping of rural landscapes.
