Pesticides and Agriculture

Over time, the need to maximize production at farm level by managing pests and diseases has seen unprecedented increase in manufacture and use of pesticides. Farmers in rural areas use these pesticides without much consideration to their effects in the environment, let alone their own safety. This book brings these unsustainable practices into sharp focus. This book will be useful to all policy makers, extension officers, both undergraduate and postgraduate students in agriculture, environmental management and other land based courses in examining agriculture-environment interphase. The book outlines the environmental effects of pesticides use in a rural set up of Kenya using Mutarakwa Division in Bomet County. Farmers too will find the contents useful and re-examine their practices for a healthy environment.

Mr. Kipkemoi holds a BSc.in Agriculture and a Masters of Arts degree in Environmental Management.He has over twenty years experience working with farmers on matters of crop production and protection. He has worked with various organizations on agricultural matters. Currently he is working as a District Agricultural Officer in Bomet County of Kenya.
