The main aim of the medicinal chemistry is to understanding of molecular reasons for the activity of a drug or drug candidate. Various strategies and approaches could be used to achieve the molecular design of new structures, among them the concept of privileged scaffolds. In this introductory chapter, different medicinal important scaffolds such as chalcones, pyrazolines, isoxazoles, 4-thiazolidinones, pyrimidines and pyridines are discussed in this book.

Dr. Sejal Soham Naik has received Doctorate degree in chemistry from Veer Narmad South Gujarat University in 2009.Recently, she is working as Assistant Professor at V. S. Patel College of Art & science, Bilimora. During her Job, she has cleared GPSC Exam for lectureship at state level. She has published her research articles in various journals.
