Phenylephrine has recently been marketed as a substitute for pseudoephedrine (e.g., Pfizer''s Sudafed (Original Formulation)), but there are recent claims that oral phenylephrine may be no more effective as a decongestant than a placebo (see questions about effectiveness below).
