Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Philip of Burgundy (November 10, 1323 - August 10, 1346) was Count of Auvergne and Boulogne and the only son and heir of Eudes IV, Duke of Burgundy by his wife, Joan of France, daughter of king Philip V and Jeanne II, Countess of Burgundy. He married Joanna, Countess of Auvergne and Boulogne in c. 1338. Philip was supposed to inherit the Duchy of Burgundy, County of Artois and Palatine County of Burgundy, but he died prematurely by a kick of a farmer''s horse, that caught him in the head. His widow Joanna remarried king John II of France in 1349. Since Philip had no other children from his marriage to Joanna, the future of the House of Burgundy was then placed in the hands of his young son Philip de Rouvres (1346-61), who afterwards died childless.
