Physical and chemical characteristics of the water in the Itapecuru River

Quality water is the most important resource for maintaining life and the well-being of living beings, which is why concern about its characteristics is of fundamental importance to humanity. In the municipality of Codó Maranhão, the Itapecuru River, which cuts through the city, receives a large amount of pollutants through the uncontrolled dumping of domestic and industrial effluents. In view of this, the aim of this study was to carry out a preliminary compilation of physical and chemical data obtained through the execution of various research projects carried out by members of the research groups (GARSA/NASQA) on the stretch of the Itapecuru River in the municipality of Codó - MA, with the aim of verifying the spatial distribution and spatial and temporal behaviour of some physical and chemical parameters that are directly influenced by anthropogenic actions. This contributed to a better understanding of the behaviour of this data over time and space, and also gave us the opportunity to learn some methods of analysis and the use of equipment "in loco", as well as the analysis and interpretation of this data.
