PHYSICAL-COLLOIDAL PROPERTIES OF COMPLEXES

Surfactants are substances that reduce surface tension or interfacial tension between two liquids, liquid and gas, or liquid and solid phases. The term "surfactant" is an abbreviation of the phrase "surface-active agent." Due to their structure, which includes both hydrophobic and hydrophilic parts, surfactants can mix oil with water and form foam, which plays a role in the removal of contaminants. This property is what primarily makes them essential as cleaning agents.The synthesis of surfactants is relevant for many reasons in modern chemistry and materials science. These substances are widely used in various industrial and biological applications. Surfactants are compounds that alter the interaction between water and other liquids by reducing surface tension.
