Physician-assisted suicide in France

Two months before the first round of the presidential elections, François Hollande, in his speech at Le Bourget on January 22, 2012 issued the following proposal named proposal 21: "I will propose that any adult in the advanced or terminal stages of an incurable disease, causing unbearable physical or psychological suffering, and which cannot be appeased, may request, under precise and strict conditions, to benefit from medical assistance to end his or her life in dignity."
