Pioglitazone loaded SMEDDS: State of the Art

This book represents the systematic exposition of enhancement in therapeutic potential of anti-diabetic agent (Pioglitazone) through Self microemulsifying drug delivery systems (SMEDDS). Introductory part consist of latest world scenario of one of the most prevailing disease in today's era i.e. diabetes, followed by research work consisting formulation, development and characterization of Pioglitazone loaded SMEDDS. Despite of having good bioavailability, poor aqueous solubility and slow dissolution rate renders negative impact on sub-therapeutic plasma levels leading to Pioglitazone's therapeutic failure. A crucial feature of this book is to present that how delivery of a poorly aqueous soluble can be enhanced through formulating it in the form of SMEDDS. Mr. Vikas Pandey is the Associate Professor of pharmaceutics and In-charge at "Drug Delivery & Nanotechnology laboratory, Department of Pharmaceutics, GRKIST School of Pharmacy. He is registered pharmacist at Madhya Pradesh State Pharmacy Council, completed his Master of Pharmacy degree from Annamalai University. His area of Interest is SMEDDS.
