Planning the Family in India
Details
This book examines family planning in India. It explores the significance of marriage, family formation and the stages within it. The author studies some of the factors associated with fertility behavior, such as those of marriage, son preference and 'ideal' family size. The factors underlying fertility behavior in the classical texts in India with special reference to marriage, family, family size and composition are taken into consideration. The book then goes on to evaluate the Family Planning Programs till the Eighth Five Year Plan in this context.
