This book is borne out of the desire to have a simplified text on diseases and pests of some crops in Nigeria. The text does not pretend to cover all the topics in plant protection. Topics such as major plant pathogens, diseases and pests of crops, timber diseases, symptoms and stages of disease development, pathogen attack, defense mechanisms, disease control and weeds were considered in the text. It will be of immense benefit to students in Universities, College of Education and School of Agriculture.

Ukoima is an Associate Professor in the department of Forestry and Environment,Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt. Presently, he is the Head of Department of Forestry and Environment and Sub Dean, Faculty of Agriculture. He has a post doctoral experience of 17 years and has published two books and over 50 publications.
