Play out the Play!

"Play out the Play" deals with the question of why and how Shakespeare can be taught in the modern EFL classroom. The author takes a look at the reasons why Shakespeare is still such a vital part of the contemporary cultural scene and points out how his versatility allows establishing connections to the lives of contemporary students. She offers a close analysis of the methods that have been developed to teach Shakespeare and shows how these can be used to achieve the competences described in the Common European Framework of References for Languages. The final chapter suggests ways of how to incorporate Shakespeare lessons into the thematic framework of an EFL course book.
