Playing Sports and Physiotherapy in Cystic Fibrosis - Play for Life

Cystic fibrosis is the most recent recognized condition among the major chronic human diseases, being the most common monogenic disease of the Caucasian population, with a lethal potential and an incidence of 1: 2000 - 1: 2500 live births.The disease has an extraordinary clinical polymorphism, but respiratory distress, translated into progressive chronic bronchopneumonia, is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with CF. The monograph "Playing sports and physiotherapy in cystic fibrosis - play for life" prepared by Assoc.Prof.PhD. Almajan-Guta Bogdan would like to improve the quality of life of patients with cystic fibrosis, by applying and developing physical therapy, as an integral part of therapeutic strategy.The book is addressed to specialists in the field, as well as to patients and their families, offering theoretical and practical data of the modern therapeutic strategy: individualized physical training, incentive techniques, inhalation therapy and airway clearance techniques.

Dr. Habil. Bogdan Almajan-Guta is Associate Professor at the Department of Physical Therapy and Special Motricity, Faculty of Sport and Physical Education from West University of Timisoara, Romania. He is Senior Physiotherapist at 2nd Pediatric Clinic Timisoara and also works as S&C and Physiotherapist at the Romanian National Rugby Champion team.
