Podkum is a settlement in the Zagorje ob Savi municipality in central Slovenia. The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola. It is now included with the rest of the municipality into the Zasavje statistical region. The local parish church is dedicated to Saint George (Slovene: Sveti Jurij) and belongs to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Ljubljana. Of the original 17th century building only the belfry remains. The rest of the church was rebuilt in a Neo-Romanesque style in 1895. Zagorje ob Savi is a town and a municipality in central Slovenia. It is located in the valley of the Medija stream, a minor left bank tributary of the river Sava, 52 kilometres east of Ljubljana 36 kilometres southwest of Celje and 6 kilometres west of Trbovlje. Traditionally the area was part of the Upper Carniola region. The entire municipality is now included in the Zasavje statistical region. The town is home to about 7,000 people while the population of the municipality is about 17,000.
