Policy Practice and Challenges in Ethiopia

This material shows overall policy practice and challenges in the Ethiopian policy landscape. Though limited in its scope, the book ignites some needs to looking into the popular policy views, practices, and overall impacts of public policies in the country. It provides a pricking signal for policymakers and policy students, research institutions and policy think-tanks to pay due attention to policymaking practices and the role of the policy subsystems in the country. The book is hoped to inspire professionals of all walks of life and the policy entrepreneurs to raise policy awareness among the civil servants, policy practitioners, front-line implementers, the legislators, executives and the general public to nurture the culture of policy stakes in government decisions. As public policies affect citizens' present and future life, all have to take active part from the first day of problem identification to its implementation and finally to the evaluation phases.

Dereje Terefe Gemechu completed his PhD studies in Social and Public Policy in 2010, Jyvaskyla University (Finland). He served in the education sector for nearly 30 years.Currently,he is a lecturer at the Center for Public Policy Studies in the Ethiopian Civil Service University, Addis Ababa.
