Politeness Markers Used in Educated Ghanaian English
Details
This book presents a report on a sociolinguistic study of spoken data in media panel discussions. The focus of the study was to look at how educated Ghanaians mark politeness in verbal interactions with other speakers of English. The book discusses politeness strategies in general, basing the analysis on Brown and Levinson's Politeness Theory. It also points to other strategies that are not present in the native English speaker variety but are present in the repertoire of the educated Ghanaian speaker of English.
