Political Parties in Zimbabwe in the 21st Century

Politics in Zimbabwe in the first decade of the 21st Century depicted heightened political contestation between major political parties, ZANU PF and the MDC. Emerging were bitter struggles characterised by intense jockeying for political power amidst economic and political crisis. The struggle took root within the realm of the regime change agenda championed by foreign and domestic opponents of the ruling party, ZANU PF. The contestation gave birth to a new political dispensation of power sharing the dominant political formations. The old conservative political party, ZANU PF came to co-exist with new fragmented parties, MDC-T and MDC-M, that challenged its hegemony by forming an inclusive government. Thus, the book makes an exposition of the political contestation, collaboration and co-existence of these political parties.
