Portable Parallelization of Industrial Aerodynamic Applications (POPINDA)
Details
This volume contains the summarizing of the most important developments and results obtained in the project "Portable Parallelization of Industrial Aerodynamic Applications (POPINDA)" which was supported by the German Bundesministerium für Bildung, Wissenschaft, Forschung und Technologie (Federal Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Technology, BMBF) and carried out between summer 1993 and 1997. In this project four block-structured industrial aerodynamic application codes have been unified, standardized and parallelized in a portable way by the development of a high-level communications library. Large scale benchmarks demonstrate the obtained benefits. In addition to these topics this volume describes algorithmic adaptations to the needs of parallel computing and new algorithmic developments in order to accelerate the multigrid algorithms employed. A special focus is laid upon the development of appropriate methods for the support of adaptive grid structures on parallel computers.
