Postcolonial Theory and Psychoanalysis

Psychoanalytic theory has been the critical instrument of choice for colonial critics. This book examines why critics who are otherwise suspicious of Western forms of knowledge are drawn to psychoanalytic theories, and whether it is possible to use such theories without reproducing the colonial discourse that also structures psychoanalytic thought.

MRINALINI GREEDHARRY was a SSHRCC Doctoral Fellow and British Council ORS Scholar at Goldsmiths, University of London, UK, where she obtained her PhD in 2005. Currently working as an independent scholar, she researches literature as a form of ethico-political critique and lectures regularly on the culture of colonialism.
