Details

Vanillosmopsis arborea Baker, popularly known as "candeeiro," is a species of the Asteraceae family, endemic to the Cerrado region of Chapada do Araripe. The essential oil from its stem (OEVA) is rich in -(-)-bisabolol, a sesquiterpene alcohol with proven anti-inflammatory activity, widely used in dermatological products. This study aimed to verify the effect of OEVA in experimental models of cutaneous and corneal nociception, in addition to analyzing its topical effect and identifying its antinociceptive mechanism of action. I believe that this work is extremely relevant and deserves to be known within the academic community because, above all, it is innovative research in the field of medicinal plants and promising in terms of rational use in therapy. Its purpose is the rational use of biodiversity that is so threatened, since the plant studied is being threatened in the region due to its ability to produce intense flames. It is also worth highlighting the importance of maintaining the ecological heritage of our region in order to draw the attention of Brazilian society to the northeast region.
