Practical Guide on Research Methodology in Management Science

This book is exclusively written to serve learning, writing and supervision purposes of a reader. The book is a simplified practical guide that relies on models, tables, scenarios and excerpts to discuss the research and reporting process in order to enhance the understanding of the reader. The four categories of research, six philosophies, their similarities and differences used to increase knowledge and the three types of data analysed to answer questions in management science research are presented. The book includes learning objectives and the research skills required in identifying a problem from practice, reviewing and identifying the type of literature relied upon to locate a research gap, identify and explain the meaning and different reporting structure of an applied or basic research conducted using quantitative, qualitative or mixed approach. The skill required to write a proposal and first three sections of an article can be obtained from this book. Scholarly comments during viva voce are captured for the reader to know how to apply the skills to conduct or supervise and report a research. Multiple choices, case studies and essay questions are included for practice.
