Practices of cooperative principles in Shebedino District,Ethiopia

As a full time lecturer, the author has a good experience in the area of teaching, research and training. This thesis manuscript is his novel contribution towards application of ICA principles in cooperative enterprises. The manuscript tried to show all the ground realities and challenges in translating these principles into practice and it serve as a good guideline to all stakeholders in promoting these people-centered enterprises. In particular principles of voluntarism, open membership, democratic participation, autonomy, integration between cooperative enterprises and concern for community has been explored in detail. In this regard special emphasis is given to governments role in respecting the principles and maintaining the right cooperative identity.

Mr. Abera Gebru received his MA and BA degrees in the field of Cooperative management, from Ambo and Hawassa universities respectively. He has 5 years of experience in teaching and currently he is working as a full time lecture at Hawassa university, Department of Cooperatives.
