Pragmatic Idealism
Details
In the globalized world interactions between states are inevitable. The United States needs to decide whether it wants to exercise a strategy of cooperation or confrontation when approaching future crises. This book examines the American relationship with international law, past and present, and describes how American international political and legal engagement has evolved over the last century. The US' role in the development of international law, analyses of American Cold War crises in Europe, Asia and Latin America and the consequences of American unipolarity are used to support the author's argument. The book concludes with the articulation of an American foreign policy strategy for the 21st Century that is both idealistic and pragmatic.
