Pravastatin

Hypercholesterolemia, or elevated plasma cholesterol level, has long been recognized as a major risk factor for atherosclerotic disease, and specifically for coronary heart disease. Statins are a group of extremely successful drugs that lower the cholesterol level in the blood. This monograph represents the culmination of several years of research on microbial production of pravastatin and biological effects of this statin compound. Emine Seydametova is a Researcher of the Institute of Microbiology, Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan. Educational background: B.Sc. in biology (2001), M.Sc. in biochemistry (2003), and Ph.D. in biotechnology (2009). Research interest: production of microbial metabolites. She is the author of 22 publications, including 6 papers and 1 monograph.
