Pre-Feasibility Study of Upper Balephi Khola Hydroelectric Project

This Project report entitled Pre-Feasibility Study of Upper Balephi Khola Hydroelectric Project,Sindhupalchowk. We the students of 4th year of Civil Engineering of Kantipur Engineering college jointly completed the project on 4 months of time period. We visited the site studied the background, area, location, access, catchment areas ,transmission route, hydrology, geology for project. Then desk study, Map study, Design of the various structures were done. Design discharge at 50th percentage of time was 21.84,net head 47.5 m available power 89.10 Mw, available energy 60.60 Gwh were calculated. Then the financial analysis of the project was done which gave the total cost of project of 99 crores,80 lakhs only(lump sum rounded figure),thus the cost per Mw generation was 12 crores, ninty lakhs only and simple pay back period nearly equal to 5 yrs, benefit cost ratio 1.521 .Hence selling price of our energy per unit @Rs.3.50 seems feasible. Thus, from our calculations and computation we are able to say that our project is feasible and any one willing can take the project,since this project is promoted so that loadshedding problem of Nepal can be minimized to some extent.

I am Ojaswee Shiwakoti from New Thimi,Bhaktapur,Nepal.I completed Bachelor in civil engineering from Kantipur Engineering college,Tribhuvan University,Nepal on March 2012.My academic major project was on Pre-Feasibility and cost analysis on Upper Balephi Khola Hydropower Project.Currently i am working in HEDCO consultancy as Estimator of Building.
