A miscarriage is any pregnancy that spontaneously ends before the fetus can survive. Among pregnant women, the miscarriage rate is about 15-20%. Suffering from a miscarriage can be very traumatic. Garbhpal Ras , a drug mentioned in the text of 17th century viz. Ras Chandanshu is being used since ages. Accordingly, it cures all the ailments of pregnant woman. It further ensures the better nourishment of the foetus and prevents habitual abortions and miscarriages. The development of Garbhpal Ras to a modern herbal medicinal product has been based on traditionally known beneficial effects of Garbhpal Ras. However, till now little detailed information on the pharmacological activity profile is available. The observations made during this reverse pharmacology-based holistic approach add pre-clinical and clinical evidences in support of the therapeutic use of Garbhpal Ras . This book should be useful to professionals, scientists, research scholars and teachers in the field of Ayurveda.
