Prediction of Preeclapsia
Details
Preeclampsia is a leading cause of pregnancy related maternal death. Its identification of patients at high risk for severe and / or early onset preeclampsia followed by prophylactic intervention may prevent or delay the clinical presentation of the disease and / or reduce its severity. There are many tests available for preeclampsia prediction. But decision making is currently hampered due to lack of precise and up to date comprehensive evidence summaries on estimates of risk of developing preeclampsia. Doppler ultrasonography examination has been used more often recently. It is a non-interventional, simple and repeatable method, which allows the evaluation of blood flow alterations during pregnancy . In trained hands, uterine artery Doppler remains one of the best screening tests available in terms of screening efficacy and practicality for everyday use in an antenatal setting . This monograph encompasses a group of tests which have high sensitivity and specificity, which can be helpful in predicting risk of preeclampsia, gestational hypertension and intrauterine growth restriction. This book will be helpful for undergraduates, postgraduates and practising clinician.
