Preliminary Evaluation of khaya senegalensis Gum

The search for local raw materials of pharmaceutical use to substitute the imported ones has reached a considerable peak. The usefulness of these locally sourced materials cuts across various dosage forms and favourably compares with the imported materials.This book has highlighted the use of gum extracted from the bark of khaya senegalensis tree as a disintegrant in the formulation of Chloroquine phosphate tablets. It has also highlighted a comparison between the extracted gum and Microcrystalline cellulose as a disintegrant in the tablet formulations.
